When I was a dub, I saw more love and happiness in "worldly" people. They were happy with their relationship with God. They were secure about their spirituality. If they weren't, they could make changes to be happy.

Do you LOVE Jehovah's Witnesses?
by AK - Jeff ini mean the people, not the religion.
in fact it moved me to make concession to a stalking jw, allowing them to be reinstated to the board this week.
i know they hate me nonetheless - but i still love them.

I feel deeply sorry for the ones who are trapped because of family situations. Since I was one of them, I can understand. I feel sorry for the kids whose parents are taking away their goals and teaching them fear and guilt. As for the rest, no, the love was gone a long time ago.

Welcome! Here's my two cents. Instead of writing a letter to the Elders and dredging up more problems that you don't deserve, you and your husband need to list and announce some ground rules and limits to your FIL . Then you and your husband could set up a plan on what should be done if your FIL refuses to comply that does not involve a letter to the JWs.

WT Organisation is "The Christ"
by Gordy injust came across this at http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?aid=2007706090311.
posted by a jw calling themselves "kudra" .
no, "the christ" is not jesus, as we jehovah's witnesses believe (in the context of our convention title) so we would not just say "jesus".

Kudra may be "enlightening" others about the real truth behind the Witnesses. She seems to be fueling the myths instead of "debunking" them.
"Witnesses consider Jesus as the greatest of Jehovah's Witnesses," according to one prepared statement.
If anyone has the source for this "prepared statement", it would be great to have.

Did you ever 'Turn Someone In' to the elders? Do you regret it now?
by AK - Jeff ini am not proud of that, for i know the pain i caused someone as i look back.. i turned in 4 people for 'gross sins' over my tenure as a jw.
i wish i could take it back now.
were these people guilty of 'sin' as defined by the wts?

I didn't. I had more friends that way. I had friends that were very spiritually strong, and some who were more fun.

Bloody Mess
by faithful not discreet inbloodless medicine and surgery has grown to where it is because of the fear of aids and other blood borne pathogens, not the crackpot stand of the jw's!!!
!the only reason why they have made an impression on the medical world ,is because aids accelerated their cause.
the org has the most confused and contradictory policy on blood.not even their hlc's know what is permissable.

Welcome! I look forward to reading your story.
After I quit, I told everyone, I was so happy. I even told my doctors and they were so glad I quit and started to tell me about the patients they lost to this senseless doctrine. The Witnesses make the doctors out to be cold and heartless about the subject, but many doctors do feel guilty about not being able to save their patient.

'..simply for a contribution to cover the printing cost of the magazines...
by Gill indo you remember when we used to ask for a 'contribution that covers the printing cost' for the mags?.
was that ever the real cost of printing the mags?
afterall, we had to pay for the wretched things when we collected them, so was the wt society already making a profit from us foolish sheep which we then tried to recoup from the unsuspecting public.. were we conned?

I remember hearing talks at the KH and conventions where they would boast about how little the literature cost, and how great the quality of the books were. They would compare their books to "worldly" book making companies and how WBTS was superior. We were all supposed to be very impressed by this, and of course, we were!

DID YOU DEDICATE YOURSELF BEFORE BAPTISM OR DID YOU LIE?
by free2think ini was just wondering when you where going through the questions for baptism did you know you had to dedicate yourself to jehovah before hand or did you lie?.
i didn't know i had to so when i went through the questions i had to lie and say i had.
i always felt bad about it afterwards and quickly did a little prayer that night.

I was also 13 when I was baptized. I remember studying the questions in the "Lamp" book like I was trying to pass a test at school. I was convinced I knew what I was doing. So much for the wisdom of a 13-year old!

You could wear slacks and the convention badge and see what kind of looks you get.

June 12th is tomorrow, are you ready for armageddon?
by dawg inisn't tomorrow armageddon?
i think i'll sleep late just in case... an elder called my friends house and said that armageddon was almost certain to come this year; an urban myth stated that it would be tomorrow.
i guess i'll wait to make that car payment.

I forgot about the "Peace and Security" thing. I guess they read that scripture wrong. Also, aren't all the Witnesses supposed to be persecuted and tortured like never before and then Armegeddon will come? Maybe they read that scripture wrong too. Oh and don't forget the good news is supposed to be preached to every single person on earth so they can make their choice? I guess they'd better hurry up with those invitations to the District Conventions. I know my mom is doing her part!
